Villa d’Oro is a graceful and beautiful home built to exacting specifications, light and airy throughout, and tastefully furnished and presented. The luxurious villa occupies a prime position in an award-winning development quietly located at the edge of protected jungle. It is set on a hill half-way between the two main beaches on Koh Samui’s favored eastern side and is a kilometer from arguably the island’s most beautiful stretch of sand at secluded Coral Cove. It is a fifteen-minute drive to the center of the principal town of Chaweng, with its numerous amenities, and twenty minutes to the airport.
The villa is arranged over two floors and several terraces which together provide seamless indoor/outdoor living, maximum privacy and make the most of the extraordinary views, particularly over Chaweng Bay.
There is Wi-Fi and a Sonos music system operating throughout.
The main floor comprises a large open-plan living area at one end of which is a modern kitchen that includes an island with a four-ring induction hob and bar stools with back and arm support. There is an oven, built-in microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker and wine-cooler. Adjacent to the kitchen area is a dining table with eight chairs. At the other end of the open-plan living space is a comfortable lounge area complete with a large TV screen.
The main floor, particularly the hallway, backs into the jungle, with some floor-to-ceiling windows enabling views of the surrounding greenery. The main floor opens onto a large terrace that includes a barbeque and area for sun-recliners and a twelve-meter swimming pool with submerged bar stools at one end which abut a dry, sunken sala designed for social gatherings or quiet relaxation. At either end of the terrace are two large bedrooms that enjoy direct sea views. A further bedroom, somewhat smaller but still with a double bed, looks directly into the jungle and has sliding doors enabling access outside. All three bedrooms on the main floor have an en-suite bathroom (with secured or hand-held hose bidets), and access to television and Wi-Fi.
Above the main floor is the expansive master bedroom suite which includes a large walk-in wardrobe and a generous bathroom, complete with bath, spa-like rain shower, Japanese-style toilet and extensive vanity space. At the rear of the bedroom is a kitchenette with minibar, wine-cooler and coffeemaker.
The master-bedroom suite is designed to make full use of the extraordinary views, not only from the bedroom but from the balcony in front of it and from two large terraces. A romantic feature of the villa is a beautiful, open-air space alongside the bedroom (and its kitchenette) which features distressed teak flooring, a jacuzzi, outdoor shower, and a hanging swing chair for two. A further terrace off the master bedroom catches the early sun and is ideal for tai-chi or yoga.
The villa also benefits from a further terrace which is reached from the area at the end of the swimming pool at the far end from the sunken sala. This peaceful space, which includes comfortable seating, provides a heightened sense of being on the edge of the jungle and closest to the remarkable views that define this special villa.
Alongside is a two-car garage for guests. To access the principal floor of the villa, guests can ride in a glass-paneled elevator which offers a foretaste of the views that await. There is also an external staircase. From the principal floor there is an internal staircase to the master-bedroom suite (there is also an emergency exit from the level of the master-bedroom suite via an external spiral staircase).
Services
Below the level of the main terrace is a self-contained apartment where live the quiet yet friendly couple who look after the villa, including regular cleaning, maintenance of the pool and jacuzzi, and monitoring of air-conditioning, water-heating and solar panel systems, etc.
Upon request, the Sunway Estate team can arrange airport transfers, in-villa BBQ (including fresh seafood), professional massage and other services to help ensure the perfect stay.
Wheelchair access
From the villa’s garage, there is a smooth ramp to the elevator going to the principal floor only. There is easy access throughout the open-plan living space and the adjacent barbeque and sun-reclining areas. The largest of the bedrooms on the principal level is best suited for a wheelchair user, although there are no special adaptations, including in the en-suite bathroom.
